ERIKA JUNE SMITH
FILM & TELEVISION WRITER

MEET ERIKA
Erika was born in August, despite her middle name being "June." As a child, this annoyed Erika. She would often complain to her mother, whose first name was "June," about how annoying it was to be named "June." As years went on, and the number of people named "Erika Smith" on IMDB grew, Erika realized June might not be such a bad name after all. It's one syllable, has a nice ring to it, and there are no other Erika June Smiths on IMDB. (She hopes.)
Erika is a film and television writer with a love for writing all things silly and meaningful. Her writing has been applauded in screenwriting festivals/competitions such as:
-
Quarterfinalist: Screencraft Film Fund (2025)
-
Semi-finalist: ScreenCraft Virtual Pitch Competition (2024)
-
Quarterfinalist: ScreenCraft Animation and Family Competition (2024)
-
Semi-finalist: Hollywood International Diversity Film Festival (2023)
-
Quarterfinalist: ScreenCraft Short Film Screenplay Competition (2023)

When Erika is not behind her computer writing, she takes improv classes at UCB LA. Erika's "day job" is working in animation production. Her excellence in production was recognized in a profile that Keyframe Magazine did on production workers called "Keeping it Together."
Erika is a card-carrying member of The Animation Guild where she volunteers on a production negotiating committee. Erika is credited on multiple animated projects including Steven Universe, Bless the Harts, LEGO Dreamzzz, and Grimsburg. She is currently working as a freelance script coordinator on an unannounced animated children's series.

Erika loves watching "Survivor," cuddling with her blind dog, and crocheting cute stuffed animals. Sometimes she does all three things at the same time. She's a triple threat.
